Short answer
How does the auto shutter work?
-
Set your phone down
Put your iPhone on a tripod, a shelf or anything steady, with the front or the back camera facing where you will stand.
-
Pick a mode
Choose AI-FACE for portraits or AI-BODY for full-body shots. PHOTO is there when you want to press the shutter yourself.
-
Step back and pose
Walk into the frame and pose. ViaCamera watches the frame and takes the photo when the mode sees what it is waiting for.
When does an auto shutter help?
-
Photos of yourself, alone
Nobody has to hold the phone, and you do not have to ask a stranger.
-
Full-body shots from a distance
AI-BODY fires when it sees you in frame, so it suits full-body shots.
-
Tripod and shelf setups
With the phone out of reach, there is no timer to restart between poses and no remote to hide in your hand.
What are its limits?
- It needs to see you. In AI-FACE mode it waits until your face is in frame and your eyes are open, so if the camera cannot see your face clearly or your eyes are closed, it keeps waiting. If the room is too dark, turn toward a window or a lamp so the camera can see you. If you are not facing the camera, AI-BODY fires when it sees you in frame.
- It is made for photos of yourself.
- It does not edit or generate anything. You get the photo your iPhone camera took.
